Waller St Halloween Festival

Volunteer!
We need two types of volunteers this year: people to staff the street barricades, and people to help run the carnival games. Both are 1-hour shifts throughout the night. We're looking for a total of 50 volunteers — 5 shifts covering the barricades, plus 20 people to help run games. Sign up to volunteer at the bottom of the page; we will be in touch the week before Halloween with your assignment.

Street Barricades
- You'll be assigned to a specific intersection to stand at and a 1-hour time slot (ex: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
- You'll be partnered with another volunteer to watch the intersection, so you won't be on your own
- You'll get a cool vest and hand-held traffic sign to hold, making you look all official!
- If a car needs to come in or out, you'll need to guide them through the closed street
- At some intersections, you may have to (strongly) encourage bikes to take the detour through Haight and Steiner
Carnival Games
- You'll be assigned to a game station for a 1-hour time slot (ex: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
- You'll help run the game, hand out prizes, and keep the line of trick-or-treaters moving
- No vest or sign needed here—just bring festive energy for the kids
- We'll fill you in on the rules for your game and restock prizes as needed
Other benefits
- Volunteers are usually brought snacks and goodies!
- You'll get to know one of your neighbors a little better!
